More rainfall likely in Mumbai & parts of state, situation grim in Telengana

 


No respite for Mumbai, Maharashtra,  Telengana from more heavy rains . The Meteorological Department (IMD) said continuous heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue till Friday.  A red alert has been issued.  Goa, Madhya Maharashtra may also receive heavy rain.  Schools are closed on Friday in Thane, Palghar besides Mumbai.  Train movement disrupted in Mumbai due to rain.  Heavy traffic seen on the road.  One person died in Thane district.


 The Mausam Bhavan has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Mumbai on Friday as well.  Because of this, the Mumbai Municipal Council announced the closure of all schools in the city.  They advised residents to stay at home.  Schools will be closed in Palghar, Thane due to heavy rain.  Panchaganga river is flowing above the danger level due to heavy rains in Maharashtra's Kolhapur for the past few days.  Residents of six villages adjacent to the river have been evacuated to safer places.


 A person was swept away while fishing in a canal at Kalwa in Thane district on Thursday.  He is 32 years old.  He has not been found yet.  Bhiwandi and Mir Bhayandar areas of Thane are inundated due to continuous rains.  Residents of the area have been evacuated to safe places.


 Along with Maharashtra, Telangana is also receiving heavy rains.  The administration has warned the common people.  Several roads have been washed away by the water.  River Godavari flows above the danger line at Bhadrachalam.  All schools in the state will remain closed on Friday.  Red alert has been issued in eight districts.
