Kohli gets his 29th test ton as India consolidate vs West Indies on day 2

India further consolidated its position on day 2 of the 2nd test vs West Indies . Banking on Kohli's 120 and half centuries by the two Indian spin allrounders , India piled on 438 in the first innings.  However the West Indies top 3 showed strong resilience on a slow pitch to reach 86/1 at close and kept this test match alive .

Virat Kohli as expected batted with patience and resoluteness to complete his much awaited overseas hundred and break the 5 year drought of overseas hundreds in test cricket . He scored his 100 in his 500th International match and the 100th test contest against West Indies.  Kohli continued from his overnight 87 and batted with patience whole putting away the bad balls with well timed shots till he got run out for 120.

Jadeja batted with patience to score 61 before he slashed at Joseph to be caught behind . Ishan Kishan played a subdued knock of 25 before he too was caught behind as Holder got his wicket.

Ashwin likes West Indies and he showed it again , playing some glorious shots while batting with the tail. As wickets fell at other end, Ashwin scored quickly till he was last out for 56. For West Indies,  Roach and Warrican took 3 wickets each and Holder got 2 .

In reply , after a dismal batting display at the Dominica test , finally the West Indies batters showed resilience and the right temperament on a slow pitch where it was hard work for the bowlers.  Tagenarine Chanderpaul resisted for 95 balls for his 33 before being dismissed by Jadeja . That was a only wicket to fall as Kraigg Braithwaite (37) and Kirk MacKenze batted with patience to help West Indies to 86/1 at close . Indian bowlers will have to work hard on this pitch to get the wickets .
