Asia Cup 2023 Schedule announced , India v Pakistan is on Sep 2
After much controversy and long wait, the schedule of Asia Cup 2203 has finally been released. Asian Cricket Council President and BCCI Secretary Jai Shah has announced the entire schedule of the tournament. The most important match of the tournament, on which everyone is eyeing, i.e. India-Pakistan clash will be held on 2 September. This match will be played in Kandy, Sri Lanka as expected. The tournament will begin on August 30 from Multan in host Pakistan. At the same time, the final of the tournament will be played in Colombo on 17 September.
Since last year, there was a dispute regarding the organization of Asia Cup. After long discussions and agreements, it was finally agreed with Pakistan to organize it in Sri Lanka. Under this 'hybrid model', 4 matches of the 13-match tournament were given to the original host Pakistan and 9 matches including the final were given to Sri Lanka.
The schedule has also been announced on the basis of this hybrid model. 2 cities each of Pakistan and Sri Lanka have been selected for the tournament. Earlier it was being claimed that matches would be held only in Lahore in Pakistan, while matches would be played in Dambulla instead of Colombo in Sri Lanka due to monsoon. However, this has not happened.
The tournament will begin on August 30 in Multan, Pakistan, where it will face Nepal. The remaining 3 matches in Pakistan will be played in Lahore. In Sri Lanka, there will be group stage matches in Kandy, while the Super-4 and final will be played in Colombo only.
