Heavy rains continues to wreak havoc in Western, Northern India ,Odisha

 


Monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in several states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Delhi.  The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the next two days in Odisha, while the Met Bureau has predicted heavy rain in parts of Uttarakhand, Gujarat and more rain in Mumbai.  Life in Delhi and neighboring cities came to a standstill once again as Yamuna neared danger level along with heavy and scattered rains on Friday evening.  Water has filled in the temple of Mahakal in Ujjain.



 Bui Lal, Deputy Director, IMD, Himachal Pradesh, says, "Many areas of Himachal Pradesh have received heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours, with Sirmaur district receiving 195 mm of rain... IMD has issued an orange alert with the possibility of heavy rainfall in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur and Bilaspur districts in the next 24 hours."


 Incessant rains on Friday blocked roads, cancelled trains and declared holidays for educational institutions in Mumbai.  The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the next two days, indicating the possibility of widespread rainfall.  Besides this, flood-like situation has wreaked havoc in southern parts of Odisha with severe water-logging in Malkangiri district.


 Heavy damage has been reported due to cloudburst in Lela of Rohru Chirgaon, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.  Many vehicles have been washed away in the flood.  It is being told that three people are also missing in it.  The cloud burst occurred at around 3 am, when people were sleeping in the houses and one house came under the debris.  Till now three people are being told missing.  Police has reached the spot.  Search is on for the missing people.



Cloudburst has created a flood-like situation in Doda of Jammu and Kashmir.  SP Bhaderwah Vinod Sharma says, "We have rescued one person. We appeal people not to come out of their houses."


 Many houses collapsed in Rampur due to heavy rains.  Some houses also developed cracks after the rain and storm.

 The death toll in the landslide at Irshalwadi village in Maharashtra's Raigad district reached 26 on Saturday, with search and rescue teams recovering four more bodies from the rubble.

 The bus going from Najibabad to Haridwar in UP's Bijnor got stuck in the midst of strong current of water, more than 24 passengers were present in the bus.

 A fresh batch of over 3,000 Amarnath pilgrims left for Kashmir from the base camp here on Saturday but their convoy was briefly stopped at Ramban after landslides at two places on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, officials said.  Landslides due to rain were reported in Mehar and Dalwas areas on the 270-km-long highway, but traffic was restored after the debris was cleared, officials said.
