More heavier rains to cause havoc in Mumbai, Raigarh as water logging continues

 


Rain continues to wreak havoc in Mumbai.  Heavy rains led to severe water-logging at Raigad's Rasayani police station.  The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of heavy rains on July 19 in Raigad district.  IMD has issued red alert for Palghar Raigad for 19th July.  Orange alert has been issued for Thane Mumbai and Ratnagiri.



 Rasayani police station in Maharashtra's Raigad district was waterlogged on Wednesday morning due to incessant rains, hampering work.  The entire police station premises including the rooms were inundated and policemen had to wade through more than a foot of water.


Raigarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Somnath Gharge said that Rasayani police station was waterlogged due to heavy rains in the city.  The SP also informed that after heavy rains, a village on the river bank was also flooded and the local people had to be evacuated to safer places.


 Speaking to news agency ANI, SP Gharge said, "Rasayani police station complex has been inundated. Apta village on the river bank has been inundated and people have been shifted to safer places. The situation is under control."



 Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Raigad district on July 19.  IMD has issued a 'red' alert for Palghar, Raigarh for July 19.  An 'Orange' alert has been issued for Thane, Mumbai and Ratnagiri.


 "Moderate to intense rainfall very likely over Raigad, Thane, Mumbai, Palghar and Ratnagiri districts during next 3-4 hours. Strong winds are also likely," the IMD said in its morning bulletin.

 Meanwhile, Raigad District Collector Yogesh Mhase declared holiday for all schools and colleges in the district today in view of heavy rains.
