Stuart Broad reaches rare milestone of 600 test wickets for a fast bowler
In the fourth match of the Ashes series being played against Australia, England's star fast bowler Stuart Broad has created history. Stuart Broad completed 600 wickets in Test cricket by dismissing Head in the third session on the first day of the fourth Test. Stuart Broad has become the fifth bowler to take 600 wickets in Test cricket. Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anderson and Anil Kumble have achieved this position before Broad.
Broad needed to take two wickets to achieve this milestone before the start of the fourth Test. Broad took two wickets on the first day of the fourth Test. Broad had sent Khawaja back to the pavilion at the beginning of the day. With this, Broad had reached 599 wickets. At the beginning of the third session, Broad dismissed Head for 48. With this wicket, Broad completed 600 wickets in Test cricket.
It took 16 years for Broad to achieve this milestone in Test cricket. Broad made his Test debut in the year 2007 , the same year in which he was obliterated by Yuvraj Singh for 6 sixes in an over in the 1st ever T20I World Cup . He never looked back in the international cricket & specially test cricket after this. Broad completed 600 wickets in the 166th Test. He is the second fast bowler of England to achieve this position. Along with Broad, his compatriot James Anderson has also taken more than 600 wickets in Test cricket.
Five bowlers have got more than 600 wickets
Before Broad and Anderson, only spinners are doing well in this list. Muralitharan holds the record for taking the most wickets in Test cricket. Muralitharan has achieved 800 wickets. After this comes the number of Australian spinner Shane Warne. Warne took 708 wickets in Test cricket. Anderson is in third place in this list, who has taken 688 wickets.
India's Anil Kumble is fourth in this list with 619 wickets. Although Broad has a chance to beat Kumble and get the fourth position in this list.
