Red alert of more heavy rains in Maharashtra, closures announced in schools, colleges in some districts
It is raining continuously in many districts of Maharashtra. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for 4 districts, expressing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the state today i.e. on Thursday. Keeping this in mind, a holiday has been declared today (July 27) for schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur districts. Orange alert of rain has been issued in Raigarh district. In such a situation, the district administration will take a decision on the basis of the situation with Raigad district. On the other hand, July 27 has been declared a holiday for all government, private schools, all colleges, all ashram schools, business and training centers within Panvel Municipal Corporation limits.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai as well as Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur. In such a situation, keeping in view the possibility of heavy rains, school students of class I to 12 of all mediums and boards may face inconvenience in commuting to school. Keeping this in mind, for the safety of school students, the Zilla Parishads have announced that July 27 will be declared a holiday in all schools in these districts.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rain in Mumbai from 8 pm on Wednesday to Thursday afternoon. In such a situation Municipal Commissioner Dr. Iqbal Singh Chahal has announced a holiday on Thursday, July 27, 2023, in the municipal corporation and all government and private primary, secondary and higher secondary schools as well as all colleges.
Also, all Mumbaikars are requested to please be alert. Get out of the house only if it is very necessary. It has also been requested to follow the instructions given from time to time through the administration.
Ratnagiri district has also been given a red alert for rain. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in the district today. The Jagbudi river has crossed the danger mark in Khed taluka. Similarly, Shastri river in Sangameshwar, Kodavali river in Rajapur have also crossed the warning level. In view of this situation, the possibility of flood situation cannot be ruled out in case of heavy rains here. For this reason, a holiday has been declared in the schools of Ratnagiri district today.
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for rain for Chandrapur district. Keeping this in mind, Chandrapur Collector Vinay Gowda has declared a holiday for schools and colleges on July 27. The district administration has taken this decision to avoid emergency and untoward incidents.
