Novak Djokovic to retire in 2024 ? Hints from family sparks possibilities
It may be time for Novak Djokovic to hang up his tennis racket. And maybe don't imitate anyone on the tennis circuit, the joker of world tennis. He will not be seen to extend the match to five sets.
Is the joker going to retire ? The Serbian star's father, Srdan Djokovic, has indicated the same about his son.
Maybe Novak Djokovic will say goodbye to the tennis court at the end of the 2024 tennis season. His racket may not speak after next year . Srdan Djokovic said, "In my opinion, seven or eight years ago, he got it all. The rest is a bonus now."
37-year-old Djokovic now holds 23 Grand Slams. Novak lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final. Ever since then, the practice has been going on in world tennis circles, the joker's days are over. A new era is beginning. Djokovic's father says, "Novak will be admired by everyone for what he will do at the end of his tennis career. I think his tennis career is going to end next year." Djokovic lives with tennis since childhood. Pete Sampras was his role model. Novak Djokovic's coach was surprised to see his kit once so well arranged. He asked, how did you learn to assemble the kit so perfectly?
"Learned from watching Sampras," Novak said. His coach used to listen to the radio. He knew where the bombs were falling in war-torn Serbia. The next day he took little Djokovic to practice in that part of town because the enemy does not bomb repeatedly in the same part of the city.
Joker's father feels that tennis is a part of his son's life but tennis cannot be involved in one's lifetime throughout his life.
According to Srdan, the time has come for the next generation of tennis players to take the stage. Srdan Djokovic says, "And maybe a year and a half. After that, Novak will leave this very difficult task. That is my hope as a father. This game is very challenging physically and mentally. I have been with him for thirty years. I didn't let my feet off the grass for a moment. There is no time to do other things in life.”
Another year and a half is clearly too much in Novak Djokovic's words. Joker will say goodbye to tennis after that.
