More heavy rains predicted in Maharashtra, Orange alert in 10 districts

This caused waterlogging and traffic problems here. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of more heavy rains during the week in several districts.
The IMD said light to moderate and very heavy rains will occur over western India, including several districts of Maharashtra. At the same time, there will be 'more than very much' rain in some areas till Sunday. The weather department warned that 'very heavy rain' is likely at some places in the next 24 hours. In view of this, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday ordered closure of schools in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts.
According to the Regional Meteorological Department, 10 districts of Maharashtra are on orange alert today. These include Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune, Satara, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Gondia. At the same time, other districts including Mumbai have been put on yellow alert.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for five districts on Friday. These include Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune and Satara. On the other hand, 'heavy to very heavy' rain is expected at isolated places in Raigad, Ratnagiri and Pune till Sunday.
Chance of a storm
Also, Thane has been put on yellow alert till Sunday. Other districts in Maharashtra include Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli Gondia, Nagpur, Washim, which have been put on 'yellow' alert till Sunday. The IMD said thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds and heavy rain at isolated places are likely in these areas.
