Wimbledon24: Top seed Sinner knocked over by Medvedev , Alcaraz advances

Before Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner ascended to the position of the men's number one tennis player. However, he did not secure the Wimbledon championship. Sinner, the top seed, was defeated in the quarter-finals in five sets (7-6, 4-6, 6-7, 6-2, 3-6) by Daniil Medvedev.

The first set clearly showed that Medvedev's match against the world's number one would be challenging. Both players held their serves, leading to a tiebreaker. Sinner emerged victorious in the tiebreaker, taking the first set.

Medvedev made a strong comeback in the second set, engaging in long rallies and capitalizing on Sinner's unforced errors. Medvedev broke Sinner's serve and won the second set 6-4, leveling the match.

The third set mirrored the first, with both players fiercely contesting each game and maintaining their serves. Sinner faced some difficulty with his leg during a shot and took a medical break. Despite returning to play, the set went to another tiebreaker, which Medvedev won, taking the lead.

Sinner refused to give up and responded strongly in the fourth set, breaking Medvedev's serve twice and quickly leading 5-1. He dominated the set, winning 6-2 and tying the match.

In the decisive fifth set, Medvedev demonstrated the same power Sinner had shown in the previous set. He broke Sinner's serve twice, as Sinner appeared fatigued and struggled with the pressure of long rallies. Medvedev won the final set 6-3, ending Sinner's Wimbledon run in 2024.

Meanwhile Carlos Alcaraz  started slowly vs Tommy Paul and lost the first set 7-5 but that turned out to be the only set going awry for the reigning champion.  Alcaraz shifted gears and turned it on in the next set winning  6-4 . Once Alcaraz was level , he lifted his game and crushed Tommy Paul 6-2 , 6-2 in the 3rd & 4th set to move to the semis
