EngvWI : Anderson bids farewell to test cricket as Eng hammer WI by innings in 1st test

England gives a fitting farewell to James Anderson in his final test at Lords . Anderson who made his test debut in 2003 vs Zimbabwe at Lords and taken 5 wickets on debut ,finally played his last test at the same Lords venue vs the West Indies and ended his glittering and a very long fast bowlers career at 704 tests wickets in 188 tests at 26.46 average . A magnificent career indeed .

It was ealier announced that the 1st test at Lords between West Indies and England will be Anderson's final test . On a cloudy morning and ideal for Anderson's bowling Stokes bowled first and the West Indies with a batting lineup thin on experience and skill had absolutely no answer to the England test debutant quick Guy Atkinson's high octane fast bowling and folded up meekly for 121 . Aktinson bowled with pace and hostility and moved the ball just enough to rip through the hapless Windies batting for a paltry 121 . Anderson took the final wicket . For the toursts Hodge (24) and Athanaze (23) were the top scorers .

England in reply piled up 371 with aggressive batting by all the England batters . Crawley continued his upwards strides in test cricket with another dazzling 76 . There were polished half centuries from Pope (57), Root (68) , Brook (50) and debutant keeper Jamie Smith (70) . Jayden Seals was the most successful bowler with 4 wickets followed by Motie and Holder with 2 wickets each and Alzarri Joseph with 1 wicket.  There was mo success for the hero of last test win vs Australia  , Shamar Joseph .

With a 250 run lead , England rattled West Indies in the second innngs as the tourists crumbled again and got folded up for 136  early on day 3 . Motie (31) was the top scorer followed by Athanaze (22) in a wafer thin batting lineup as the Windies  showed no stomach to fight and lost meekly by an innings and  114 runs in a no contest  . Aktinson capped off an excellent debut with 5 second innings wickets and 12 for the match while Anderson took 3 wickets and Stokes got 2 wickets and completed 200 test scalps going with his 6000 test runs . Aktinson was the player of the match as Anderson moved into the sunset to cap off an excellent 21 year old test career .
