Heavy rains in Mumbai, red alert at Vidarbha, more rains forecasted
Rainfall has intensified across Maharashtra, including Mumbai. Heavy rain has been falling in Mumbai since morning, inundating the city and its suburbs. Nagpur is also experiencing heavy rain, disrupting daily life. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Vidarbha today, Monday, warning of heavy rainfall in Nagpur and an orange alert for other regions. Apart from Mumbai, heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for Thane and Palghar as well. Other parts of the state are also experiencing heavy rainfall, causing flood-like situations in several areas. The administration has instructed all systems to remain on alert as a precaution.
Heavy rain is expected in Vidarbha's Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, Amravati, and Washim districts, with a red alert in place. Due to the rain, schools and colleges in some districts of Vidarbha have been closed. Citizens are advised to only go out for essential purposes. In Bhandara district, continuous rain over the past few days has caused water to accumulate in low-lying areas, even flooding homes. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for this district as well.
In Mumbai, heavy rain has been falling since morning. It is expected that the intensity of the rain will increase in Konkan and Mumbai. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert, forecasting heavy rainfall throughout the day in the city and suburbs. Local transportation in Mumbai has been affected due to the rain, with local train services running 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule.
