Copa24: Brazil locked in 1-1 draw with Columbia , both moves to knockouts

Brazil reached the quarter-finals of the Copa America.  But Neymar's country got stuck against Colombia.  Brazil reached the quarter-finals after winning only one match in the group stage.  Not good advertising for the five-time World Cup winners.

Brazil played the last match of the group on Wednesday.  After beating Paraguay 4-1 in the previous match, they were thought to have returned to glory.  But against Colombia, the yellow jersey holders showed disdain again.  After 12 minutes, Rafinha gave the team the lead by scoring a super goal from a free kick.  But Brazil could not maintain that gap.

Colombia equalized in first half stoppage time.  Daniel Munoz scored.  He beat the  goalkeeper Alison with a strong shot from inside the box.  The golie tried to shrink the space but could not.

Colombia and Brazil advanced to the quarter-finals from Group D.  Colombia is at the top with 7 points.  Brazil came second.  They finished second with 5 points from one win and two draws.  Despite winning on Wednesday, Costa Rica did not go to the next round.  They finished third with 4 points.
