#### Domestic Career

Alec Bedser played his entire domestic career for Surrey County Cricket Club, debuting in 1939. His career was interrupted by World War II, during which he served in the Royal Air Force. Resuming his career post-war, Bedser became a pivotal figure in Surrey's dominance in county cricket during the 1950s.


- **First-Class Matches**: Bedser played 485 first-class matches, taking 1,924 wickets at an average of 20.41. He also scored 5,735 runs with a top score of 99.


#### International Career

Bedser made his Test debut for England against India at Lord's in June 1946. He quickly established himself as one of the leading bowlers in the world.


- **Test Matches**: Bedser played 51 Test matches for England, taking 236 wickets at an average of 24.89.

- **Best Bowling Figures**: His best bowling figures in a Test innings were 7 for 44 against Australia in 1951.

- **Ashes Series**: Bedser was particularly effective against Australia. His performance in the 1953 Ashes series, where he took 39 wickets at an average of 17.48, was instrumental in England regaining the Ashes after a 19-year hiatus.
