Wimbledon24 : Djokovic , Sinner, Swaitek, Rybakina cruise through to next round

Novak Djokovic won his first-round match with ease, defeating his opponent in straight

sets. In the second round at Wimbledon, he faced an unseeded opponent and experienced a bit more of a challenge, losing a set but ultimately advancing to the third round after a four-set victory.

Djokovic began by comfortably winning the first set against Britain's Jacob Fearnley, breaking his serve and taking the set 6-3. The second set followed a similar pattern, with Djokovic breaking serve again and winning 6-4.

It appeared Djokovic might win in straight sets, but Fearnley made a strong comeback in the third set. Djokovic missed a few shots, allowing Fearnley to break his serve and win the set 7-5, much to the surprise of everyone at center court, including Djokovic himself.

However, Djokovic regained control in the fourth set. Despite a strong effort from Fearnley, who managed to hold his serve, he couldn't break Djokovic's serve. Djokovic clinched the fourth set 7-5, securing his place in the next round.

Meanwhile on previous night , Italian Jannik Sinner secured a significant victory at Wimbledon on Wednesday, defeating his compatriot and former finalist Matteo Berrettini 7-6(3), 7-6(4), 2-6, 7-6(4) in a gripping second-round match.

In only their second meeting, both players showcased powerful baseline play, aiming to dominate the rallies early. The contest was tightly contested, with Sinner capitalizing on key backhand errors from Berrettini. Sinner overcame a break deficit in both the second and fourth sets, ultimately advancing to the third round after three hours and 45 minutes of intense play.

In the women's draw, top seed Iga Swiatek faced Petra Martic and continued her dominant form. Swiatek won the first set 6-4 and the second set 6-3, not allowing Martic a single break of serve throughout the match. The Polish star advanced easily, maintaining her strong serve and solid play.

No. 4 seed Elena Rybakina had to fight hard to maintain her streak of strong Wimbledon finishes. The Kazakh player eventually overcame German veteran Laura Siegemund, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in their second-round match on Court No. 2 on Thursday.

Rybakina's unforced errors kept her opponent interested as she won the 2nd set to level the  match in style but the power hitting of the 2022 Wimbledon champion was the clincher in the final set .
