Wimbledon24: Its Alcaraz v Djokovic again in Wimbledon final with Medvedev, Musetti falling short

Wimbledon 2024 final will be a rematch of Wimbledon 2023 . Carlos Alcaraz outclassed formidable  Daniil Medvedev in 4 sets while Djokovic overcame a deceptive Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets to set up the much awaited blockbuster final of 2 generations

The first semi final  match began with Daniil Medvedev shining at the start , but it was Carlos Alcaraz who finished it. The third-seeded Spaniard advanced to the Wimbledon final by defeating the fifth-seeded Russian, 6-7 (1-7), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, in a 2-hour, 55-minute contest. Contrary to expectations, the battle between the two former world number ones was not as competitive as the game progressed , thanks to Alcaraz's dominant performance.

Medvedev started strong, breaking Alcaraz's serve and taking a 3-1 lead. However, Alcaraz gradually regained control, ending Medvedev's hopes of reaching the final. Despite leveling the score, Alcaraz couldn't win the first set and faltered in the tiebreak. From then on, Alcaraz dominated, winning three consecutive sets. Medvedev struggled to handle Alcaraz's top spin.

Alcaraz's relaxed play disrupted Medvedev's rhythm in the semi-finals. The Russian began confidently, with Alcaraz initially appearing defensive, trying to play from the baseline. Finding no advantage, Alcaraz changed his strategy in the fifth game, moving forward near the net. Medvedev couldn't counter this approach.

Even after leveling the score in the first set, Alcaraz couldn't overcome Medvedev in the tiebreak. However, he adjusted his game in the second set, mixing volleys and drop shots with power play. This strategy paid off, as Alcaraz broke Medvedev's serve early in the second set and maintained his lead. Medvedev failed to hold his serve in the subsequent sets, and Alcaraz, serving at 5-4 in the fourth set, secured his victory by holding serve, winning the game, set, and match.

In the 2nd semi final Novak Djokovic was challenged by a talented Lorenzo Musetti & as anticipated, Novak Djokovic has secured a spot in the men's singles final at Wimbledon. The 24-time Grand Slam champion triumphed over the 25th seed, Lorenzo Musetti of Italy, in the semi-finals with a score of 6-4, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, after a 2-hour and 48-minute match. Djokovic will face Carlos Alcaraz in Sunday's final.

Djokovic entered Wimbledon following surgery on his right knee, and just five to six days before the tournament started, his participation was uncertain. Nonetheless, Djokovic has appeared unstoppable on the grass courts of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, showing no signs of surgical limitations in his movements. He effortlessly covers the court, applying pressure on his opponents by maintaining a relentless pace. In his first Grand Slam semi-final, the 22-year-old Musetti was forced into making numerous errors, particularly when Djokovic used drop shots to disrupt his rhythm. Overall, Djokovic displayed his usual dominant form.

Djokovic had an opportunity to win the first set 6-3 but conceded a game due to an unforced error, leading to a 5-4 score. He quickly regained control by breaking Musetti's serve in the next game to secure the set. Earlier, he had also broken Musetti's serve in the sixth game, putting him in a strong position.

Despite losing the first set, the young Italian didn't give up and presented a tough challenge in the second set. The set went into a tiebreaker after 12 games ended at 6-6. Djokovic dominated the tiebreaker, winning it 7-2 and thereby taking the second set.

In the third set, Djokovic broke Musetti's serve in the first game and then focused on holding his own serve without taking unnecessary risks. The 25th seed couldn't muster enough to overcome the seasoned Djokovic, who kept Musetti off balance with continuous cross-court rallies. Although Djokovic missed three match points in the ninth game, Musetti's valiant effort only temporarily delayed Djokovic's victory.
