India women beat Proteas in test by 10 wkts after Wolvaardt, Luus tons , Rana MOM

 



Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and rest of the world cup winning team  were congratulated by the Indian women's team standing at the ground in Chennai after India won the T20 World Cup by defeating South Africa.  Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana said that they watched the entire Indian final.  Two days after India won the World Cup, the Indian women beat South Africa in the Test.  They won by 10 wickets showing power with bat and ball. However South Africa women showed lots of grit to take the game in the final session of the 4th day .


 India declared 603 runs for 6 wickets in the first innings in Chennai.  Shefali Verma and Mandhana put on a partnership of 292 runs to open.  They were playing with the South African bowlers and plundered runs at will on day one .  Mandhana scored a sparkling 149 runs.  Shefali scored a breathtaking double hundred (205) before she was runout .  India's women cricketer scored the fastest Test double hundred in the history of women's cricket.  Shefali was dismissed for 205 runs.


 Half-centuries were scored by Jemima Rodriguez, Harmanpreet and Richa Ghosh.  Jemima was dismissed for 55 runs.  Skipper Harman scored 69 runs.  Richa was on his way to a century.  Richa got out after scoring a scintillating 86 runs.  India declared after she got out.


 South Africa were all out for 266 in the first innings.  Sune Luus scored 65 and Marizanne Cup scored 74 runs.  The rest couldn't score that many with skipper Wolvaardt contributing only 20 .  Sneh Rana catches the eye with the ball.  This Indian right arm spinner took 8 wickets in a brilliant performance .  Another spinner Deepti Sharma took the remaining 2 wickets in the first innings 


 India followed up on South Africa.  They fought in the second innings.  Captain Laura Wolvaart scored a fine  122 playing lovely drives and Sune Luus scored  109 playing superbly all round the wicket.  Nadine D'Clark scored a belligerent 61 runs.  South Africa were all out for 373 runs.  Sneh, Deepti and Rajeshwari Gaikwad took 2 wickets each for India.  Pooja Vastrakar, Shefali and Harmanpreet got 1 wicket each.


 Despite losing the innings, South Africa could not save the loss.  India needed 37 runs in the second innings to win.  India did it in 9.2 overs.  Mandhana did not come to open the second innings.  Shefali and Shubha satish lead the team.  Shefali remained unbeaten on 24 and Shubha on 13. Sneh Rana won the player of the match award for her 8 wickets in the first innings and 10 for the match .
