Wimbledon24: Iga Swaitek crashes out , Sinner , Zverev advances

In a dramatic result during the thrilling third round of Wimbledon, the Women's top seed, the exceptional player  Iga Swiatek, unexpectedly lost in the prestigious grand slam  competition. Swiatek was defeated 6-3, 1-6, 2-6 by the formidable world number 35 player, Yulia Putintseva, on a tense Saturday. Just two weeks ago, the unstoppable Putintseva claimed victory at the Rothschild Classic. With this impressive win, she extended her remarkable streak to eight consecutive matches.

Swiatek had started strong, securing the first set of the day. However, Putintseva showcased flawless play in the subsequent two sets. During the crucial second set, Swiatek failed to capitalize on any of her three break points. The weather added to the drama as rain began to pour over the center court at the start of the second set. Although the roof was covered, the thunderous sound of rain on the roof proved to be a significant distraction for Swiatek. Her concentration wavered, leading to a series of mistakes. In contrast, Putintseva, who was savoring the taste of victory, became unstoppable.

Despite the disappointment for the Women's top seed, the Men's top seed, the resilient Jannick Sinner, triumphed in straight sets to advance to the fourth round. On Saturday, he decisively defeated Miomir Kecmanovic 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. After battling through four sets in the previous two rounds, Sinner faced little resistance this time. Kecmanovic had no answers to Sinner's powerful serves and impeccable baseline play. Sinner wrapped up the match in a swift one hour and 37 minutes.

Fourth seed Alexander Zverev also secured his place in the fourth round with a victory over Cameron Norrie, 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 that included a very long 17-15 marathon 3rd set tie breaker .

Meanwhile, fifth seed Daniil Medvedev overcame Jean Lennard Struff 6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 to advance further in the tournament.
