India's best achievements in 2023

 



The year 2023 is drawing to a close . This is a time to reflect back and take stock of the positive happenings and achievements made by India .  We look back briefly as under : 


First country to reach the South Pole of the Moon:


 India became the first country in the world to reach the South Pole of the Moon in the year 2023.  ISRO has brought glory to India in the entire world.  With this, India became the fourth country in the world to successfully land on the Moon along with the United States, Russia and China.  Chandrayaan-3 mission was launched on July 14, 2023 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.  After which Vikram Lander made a successful landing near the south pole of the Moon on August 23, 2023.



 Record for fastest 5G rollout:


 The 2,00,000th 5G site in Gangotri, Uttarakhand was launched by Union Minister for Communications, Railways and Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnav and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.  In fact, with this, a record was created for the fastest 5G rollout in the entire world, under which one site was established every minute.  2,00,000 sites covering 700 districts were set up in 8 months.



World's largest meditation center:


 Prime Minister Narendra Modi also inaugurated the world's largest meditation centre, Swaraveda Mahamandir, in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.  The world's largest yoga center has been constructed in Umraha of Chaubepur area of ​​Varanasi.  It is a 7-storey meditation center which is the largest in the world.  The newly constructed Swaraveda Mahamandir is spread over 3 lakh square feet.




 World's Longest River Cruise:


 This year, Prime Minister Modi flagged off the world's longest river cruise - MV Ganga Vilas, which became the talk of the world.  Besides, PM Modi had also inaugurated a tent city in Varanasi.  MV Ganga Vilas is a cruise that started its journey from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and traveled about 3,200 km in 51 days to reach Dibrugarh in Assam via Bangladesh.



 Yoga session with participation from most countries:


 This year, this big yoga session was organized at the United Nations Headquarters under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, where a Guinness World Record was created for the participation of people of most nationalities.  It was organized on 21st June on the 9th International Yoga Day.



World's biggest aircraft deal:


 In 2023, Tata Group-owned Air India signed a deal to buy 470 passenger planes from France's Airbus and American aircraft manufacturer Boeing, which was the world's largest commercial aircraft deal.  This deal strengthened India's position on the global stage.




 India remains on top in digital payments:


 In the year 2023, the total transactions through digital payments across the world are estimated to reach approximately $9.46 trillion.  India topped the list of digital payments.  In the year 2022, 89.5 million digital payments were made in India.  According to data provided by the Government of India's MyGovIndia, 46% of all real-time work done worldwide in 2022 was done in India.



 World's largest office building:


 This year, PM Modi dedicated the world's largest office building in Surat, Gujarat to the country, which is one of the important achievements of India in the year 2023.  This building is spread over 659,611 square meters and has been prepared by Surat Diamond Bourse.



 Guinness World Record of Deepotsav:


 A new world record was made this year in Ayodhya, the city of Lord Ram, where 22 lakh 23 thousand lamps were lit on 51 banks of the Saryu River, which became a Guinness World Record for the Festival of Lights.  50 thousand lamps were lit inside the Ram temple.



41 Indian labourers rescued from collapsed tunnel in Himalayas 


In a dramatic incident  41  Indian labourers were trapped inside a collapsed tunnel in the Himalayas and all of them  have been rescued after a gruelling 17 days trapped in a collapsed tunnel in the Himalayan mountains.

The dramatic scenes of the first men emerging on stretchers from the entrance of the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel came after more than 400 hours, during which the rescue operation hit multiple obstacles, delays and false promises of imminent rescue. The workers were pulled out through an escape pipe on Tuesday night after the last stretch of rubble had been manually drilled by a specialist team of “rat-hole mining” experts who had been flown in to help after the mechanical drill broke down.

Rat hole mining – a primitive method of extracting coal through very small tunnels – is outlawed in India due to its high risk, but the practice remains common in some states.



India cross 100 medals mark in Asian Games for the  first time ever 


India achieved an unprecedented haul  at the Hangzhou Asian Games. India ended with a total of 107 medals which included 28 gold, 38 silvers and 41 bronze. Never before had India's medal tally at the Asiad crossed 100. 



Neeraj Chopra became World champion in Javelin 


Neeraj Chopra won the world championship gold  in Javelin at Budapest and added the Asian Games gold later in the same year and thus winning the Continental, World & Olympic gold at the same time .



An 18 year old Indian became youngest ever chess player to reach FIDE World cup final 


In chess Grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa  at just 18 years of age, became the  youngest ever player to have reached the title clash of the prestigious tournament FIDE world cup final .



Indian women cricketers won Tests vs England, Australia 


After several years India women cricket team won test matches vs England and Australia late in the year and winning both the matches in resounding fashion .  The margin of runs win over England is the biggest in women tests history .
