Aus v Pak 1st test : Aus win by 360 runs as Pak collapse for 89 in 2nd innings

 


Australia has defeated Pakistan by 360 runs in the first test played in Perth.  Sunday was the fourth day of the Test and the Aussies defeated Pakistan on the fourth day itself.  The Australian team had given a target of 450 runs to Pakistan.  However, after this the Pakistani team was reduced to 89 runs in reply.



 Australia won the toss and batted first and scored 487 runs in its first innings.  In reply, Pakistan's first innings was reduced to 271 runs.  In this way the Australian team got a lead of 216 runs.  Australia declared its second innings at 233 runs for five wickets.  On the basis of first innings, Aussies had a lead of 216 runs.  In such a situation, Australia's total lead in the second innings became 449 runs.  Australia did not allow Pakistan to follow on and decided to bat in the second innings themselves.


 The Pakistan team, which came to chase the target of 450 runs, had a very bad start as the Aussie quicks bowled with fire right from the start .  Abdullah Shafique and captain Shaan Masood were out after scoring two runs each getting caught behind off Starc and Hazlewood respectively.  Imam ul Haq returned to the pavilion after scoring 10 runs as Starc got him lbw . Then Cummins worked over Babar Azam and finally got him caught behind for  14 runs. Sarfraz (4) was caught in the slips off Starc .  Saud Shakeel batted well for 24 runs before he was lbw to Hazlewood.  After this, no batsman could even touch double figures.   Salman Agha got run out for  five runs, and the rest of the team just collapsed quickly .  For Australia, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood took three wickets each.  Whereas, Lyon got two wickets.  Cummins took one wicket.


 

 Earlier stating from 84/2  Usman Khawaja along with Steve Smith made a partnership of 82 runs for the third wicket for Australia.  Smith became Shehzad's victim lbw after scoring 45 runs.  Travis Head became the victim of Aamir Jamal after scoring 14 runs.  After this, Usman Khawaja and Mitchell Marsh had a partnership of 107 runs for the fifth wicket.  Cummins was waiting for Khawaja's century.  The innings was declared as soon as Khawaja was out after scoring a solid 90 runs.  Marsh remained unbeaten after scoring a sparkling  63 runs on a tough pitch that included some fine drives and pulls  .  Shahzad took three wickets. Aamir Jamal and Shaheen Afridi got one wicket each.  


Today Nathan Lyon got his 500th test wicket when he got Faheem Ashraf lbw . Mitchel Marsh was the player of the match after batting well in both innings and getting the prize wicket of Babar Azam in the first innings .
