Aus v Pak Test : Vintage Warner powers Australia to 346/5 on day 1
A magnificent 164 by David Warner and some decent contributions from others helped Australia to pile up 346 for 5 in 84 overs during day one of the 1st test against Pakistan
Warner took off in fine style as Australia hammered 14 runs from the 1st over of Shaheen Afridi . Khawaja , who started with some crisp fours dropped anchor as Warner went after the Pakistan's timid bowling attack to plunder runs at will . Boundaries flowed all around the gigantic Optus stadium at Perth as Warner turned back the clock and looked in vintage touch .
Finally after a 126 run opening stand Khawaja (41) was caught behind off Shaheen . Labuschagne (16) went cheaply lbw to Faheem but Smith looked in fine touch till he was caught behind off impressive debutant Khurram Shahzad for 31 . Head looked in crisp touch till he was out for 40 . Finally Warner after a glorious 164 was caught off a pull shot off Jamal after smacking 16 fours and 4 sixes . Marsh and Carey stayed not out at close .
Pakistan dropped catches and fielded poorly . Their bowling looked too pedestrian. They need to up their game in order to compete well in this series .
