Covid JN-1 cases increasing again in India , causing concerns

The cases of coronavirus are once again increasing rapidly in India.  According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, the death toll across the country has risen to 5,33,321 with three deaths in Kerala in the last 24 hours.

India has reported 614 new coronavirus cases which is the highest since May 21.  With this, active cases have increased to 2,311.  The data released by the Union Health Ministry said that the number of covid-19 cases in the country has now increased to 4.50 crore.

The number of patients recovering from coronavirus has now increased to 4,44,70,346.  At the same time, the national recovery rate has reached 98.81 percent.  The death rate is currently 1.19 percent.  According to the Ministry of Health, 220.67 doses of covid vaccines have been administered across the country.

Then the infection of coronavirus started increasing

292 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Kerala.  With this the number of active cases in Kerala has increased to 2041.  With three deaths, the number of deaths due to coronavirus in three years in Kerala has now risen to 72,056.

In the last 24 hours, 224 patients have either recovered or been discharged from the hospital.  So far the number of covid cases has increased to 68,37,203.  State Health Minister Veena George on Tuesday said there is no cause for concern amid rising cases of covid-19 in Kerala, as the state is fully prepared to fight the infection.

He said that instructions have been issued to provide special facilities for Kovid-19 patients and ensure availability of isolation wards, oxygen beds, ICU beds and ventilators in hospitals.

India has confirmed 21 cases of the JN.1 Covid variant, sparking both attention and concern across the nation. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently classified JN.1 as a variant of interest, distinct from its parent lineage BA.2.86. However, the global health body emphasizes that the overall risk posed by JN.1 remains low based on current evidence. While the Union Health Ministry emphasizes the need for caution, experts are quick to allay fears, underlining the effectiveness of existing treatments and the mild nature of the infection
