IPL2024 : Mumbai Indians announce new captain, Rohit era ends

 



The Indian Premier League 2024 auction is going to take place in a few days and before that a big news has come out.  Mumbai Indians have removed Rohit Sharma from the captaincy and made Hardik Pandya the captain.  Just a few days ago, Hardik Pandya had decided to leave Gujarat Titans and come back to Mumbai Indians and since then this expectation was being raised.



 This has also been officially announced by Mumbai Indians.  A statement has been given by the team that all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been made the captain of the team in IPL 2024 and a transition phase has been started.  Hardik Pandya will replace the most successful captain of Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma.


 Mumbai Indians' Global Head of Performance Mahela Jayawardene said that we thank Rohit Sharma for his brilliant career as captain and this is a process under which Hardik has now been made the captain.  Mumbai Indians have had leaders from Sachin to Harbhajan and Ricky to Rohit and now it is Hardik Pandya's turn.


 Rohit Sharma was captaining Mumbai Indians since 2013 and in the last 10 years, he was considered one of the most successful captains in IPL history.  But after the defeat in the ODI World Cup 2023, there was a suspicion that Rohit might take a big decision in the IPL this time.


When Hardik Pandya was traded from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians, it became clear that Mumbai Indians had big plans for Hardik.  Before the auction, Mumbai Indians had traded Hardik Pandya to Gujarat Titans for a fee of Rs 15 crore .


 If we talk about Hardik Pandya's captaincy, then in the year 2022, he returned to IPL as the captain of Gujarat Titans.  Under his leadership, Gujarat won the title in its very first season and was the runner-up in the second season.  Due to his strong captaincy in IPL, Hardik Pandya also got the T-20 captaincy of Team India in international cricket.  Now even before the third season with Gujarat, Hardik had decided to return to his old team.


 If we talk about Rohit Sharma's captaincy record in IPL, he has captained in 158 matches, out of which he has won 87 matches while he has lost 67 matches.  Rohit Sharma's winning percentage has been 55.06.  The special aspect is that under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians have won five IPL titles in the years 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.

 In the year 2013, when the Mumbai Indians team was struggling under the captaincy of Ricky Ponting, Rohit Sharma was given the captaincy.  Since then, Rohit Sharma was continuously captaining Mumbai Indians, but now after 10 years this journey has come to an end .


However this decision of captaincy change has not been taken too well by a large majority of Mumbai Indians fanbase . There has been a lots of adverse comments floating in social media on Mumbai Indians surprise captaincy change with fans venting their dissatisfaction

Red alert of more heavy rains in Maharashtra, closures announced in schools, colleges in some districts

  It is raining continuously in many districts of Maharashtra.  The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for 4 districts, expressing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the state today i.e. on Thursday.  Keeping this in mind, a holiday has been declared today (July 27) for schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur districts.  Orange alert of rain has been issued in Raigarh district.  In such a situation, the district administration will take a decision on the basis of the situation with Raigad district.  On the other hand, July 27 has been declared a holiday for all government, private schools, all colleges, all ashram schools, business and training centers within Panvel Municipal Corporation limits.  The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai as well as Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur.  In such a situation, keeping in view the possibility of heavy rains, school students of class I to 12 of all medium

Heavy rains totally disrupts train services in Mumbai area, CM orders early closure of Govt Offices

  Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, the speed of Mumbai local has slowed down.  Many trains have been cancelled and diverted. Due to heavy rains in Thane district adjacent to Mumbai, the track changing point on the Kalyan-Kasara route was damaged, due to which train services on this route were stopped on Wednesday afternoon.  A senior railway official gave this information.  The Central Railway also informed that it has diverted some mail and express trains on Diva-Panvel-Karjat route and Daund-Manmad route, besides terminating some trains between Mumbai and Pune.   Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday ordered that the government offices in Mumbai and the neighboring region should be closed early.
