Aus v Pak 1st test : Australia work up 300 run lead with 8 wickets in hand
The first match of the three-Test series between Australia and Pakistan is being played in Perth. Australia scored 487 runs in the first innings. At the same time, Pakistan team was limited to 271 runs in the first innings. Australia got a lead of 216 runs in the first innings. Australia's score is 84 runs for two wickets at stumps on day 3 . The total lead has become 300 runs. At the end of the game, Steve Smith is unbeaten on 43 and Usman Khawaja is unbeaten on 34 runs.
Australia did not have a good start in the second innings. David Warner, who scored a century in the first innings, could not even open his account in the second innings. Khurram Shahzad got him caught by Imam ul Haq off a mistimed pull . Labuschagne could score only two runs. Khurram took his wicket off another mistimed pull. However Khawaja and Smith batted solidly to end the day unseperated at 84/2 with Smith on 43 and Khawaja on 34 .
On the third day of the match , Pakistan team came to play ahead of the second day's score of 132/2 but was knocked over for 271 runs only. For that, only Imam ul Haq could cross the 50 run mark. Imam scored the highest of 62 runs. Nathan Lyon took three wickets for Australia. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc got two successes each. Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head took one wicket each.
The beginning of the day on Saturday was not good for him. Pakistan got its third blow in the form of nightwatchman Khurram Shahzad. Shahzad was clean bowled by Australian captain Pat Cummins. He was out after scoring seven runs. After him, former captain Babar Azam, who came to bat, made a good start, but he could not convert it into a big innings. Babar was out after scoring 21 runs. Wicketkeeper Alex Carey caught him off the outgoing ball of Mitchell Marsh. Imam ul Haq was out after scoring 62 runs on 199 balls. Nathan Lyon got him stumped by wicketkeeper Alex Carey.
Sarfaraz Ahmed failed. He could score only three runs. Sarfaraz was clean bowled by a brilliant incoming ball of Mitchell Starc. Saud Shakeel played some impressive shots but was out after scoring 28 runs on 43 balls. He was caught by David Warner in the slips off Josh Hazlewood's short ball . After him Faheem Ashraf (nine runs) returned to the pavilion. Usman Khawaja caught him on the ball of Pat Cummins. After scoring 10 runs, Aamir Jamal was caught by Alex Carey off the ball of Nathan Lyon. Shaheen Afridi (four runs) was out as the last wicket. Travis Head got caught by Khawaja.
