Cyclone gathers velocity to hit Andhra while heavy rains submerge Chennai

 


Another massive cyclone  is going to hit south eastern states of India  .

Cyclone 'Migjaum' is gradually approaching the Andhra coast.  By Monday afternoon it had turned into a severe cyclone.  Landfall is supposed to happen on Tuesday.  Due to the impact of the cyclone, heavy rain has already started in seven coastal districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai.  Heavy rain is forecast for the next few hours.  Five people died in Chennai due to rain.  The airport has been closed till 9 am on Tuesday.



 Many areas of Chennai are submerged due to heavy rains.  In the video spread on the social media, it was seen that the parked car was floating in the water.  Chennai Police said they have received reports of five deaths in the city due to heavy rains.  The body of a 70-year-old man was found near Baidyanathan Udalpool.  His identity is not known.  The body of a 60-year-old woman was found near the Foreshore Estate bus depot.  Her identity is not known.  A 50-year-old man died due to electrocution in Dindigul district.  His name is Padmanabhan.  One person died due to electrocution near his house in Pandyan Nagar.  The deceased's name is Ganesan (70).  A 35-year-old man died after being crushed by a tree in Besant Nagar.  The name is Murugan.



The Alipore Meteorological Department said that Migzoum will make landfall between Nellore and Machalipatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, December 5.  Then its speed can be 90 to 100 km per hour.  Wind speed can reach 110 kmph.  Due to the impact of the cyclone, it has been raining in North Tamil Nadu since Sunday night.  Heavy rain forecast in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Tiruballur districts.  Because of this, the Chennai airport has been closed till 9 am on Tuesday.  Schools, colleges, government offices were closed in Chennai and three adjoining districts on Monday due to rain.  The state government has asked the private sector to allow workers to work from home.  Five thousand relief camps have been opened in coastal areas.  Chief Minister MK Stalin is monitoring the situation.  The Union Home Minister called him and assured him of all help.
