Deepti Sharma all round show puts England on the edge in one off test vs India

The one off women test between India & England has moved at a very fast pace on an eventful  day two . A total of 19 wickets fell while 340 runs where scored on the 2nd day as the pitch has started to behave in uncertain manner taking more and more spin. India had put themselves in a very strong position at close leading by 478 runs  with 4 2nd innings wickets in hand . Earlier England were skittled out for only 136 in reply to India's 428 runs in 1st innings with Deepti Sharma leading the way  .

The day started with India resuming at 410/7 . However England bowlers quickly finished off the Indian innings at 428 allout  with Deepti finishing at 67 . Bell and Ecclestone took 3 wickets each for England.

England in reply started poorly with Dunkley getting bowled by Renuka's incutter for 11 . Beaumont and Knight tried to steady the innngs before Knight was trapped lbw by Vastrakar for 11 which brought Nat Sciver Brunt to the crease .

Nat Sciver looked in ominous touch as she played glorious shots to rapidly move to 35 at lunch but post lunch wickets started to tumble rapidly with the run out of Beaumont (10) . Deepti Sharma got into the act ripping through the middle order getting dangerously looking Wyatt (19) and Jones(12) caught in close cordon . Then came the big moment when Sneh Rana bowled Sciver with a viciously turning off spinner after Sciver played a glorious knock of 59 on an increasingly tough pitch . Deepti proceeded to clean bowl Ecclestone & Filer and caught and bowled Cross while Rana had Dean lbw as England folded up quickly for 136.  Deepti thus putting up a show , taking 5 wickets for 7 runs in 6 overs and Rana getting 2 wickets .

India however did not impose the follow on and batted again . This time Smriti and Shafali came out all guns blazing at rattled up 61 in 13 overs as both played some sumptuous shots before Smriti (26) was caught at short leg off Ecclestone after her breezy knock . Shafali (33) followed soon after getting caught in the deep off Dean . Yastika after starting well got an unplayable delivery from Ecclestone as the ball jumped off a length to take her glove and into short legs hands for 9 . Jemima played some crisp shots before she was caught at short leg off Dean for 27 . Deepti Sharma, fresh from her bowling heroics, was in an attacking mood getting to a quick 20 before missing a sweep to Dean and was lbw and Rana was bowled by Dean off next ball with India 133/6 .

It finally fell on Harmanpreet and Vastrakar to arrest the collapse as they both batted solidly.  Harmanpreet looked in great touch and showed quality batting on a tough pitch reaching 44 at close with Vastrakar in company batting on 16 as India gradually moved to 186/6 .  Charlie Dean took 4 wickets in the second innings .

India now lead by a mammoth 478 runs on a deteriorating pitch and with two days left it looks an uphill task for England to salvage the test match .
