India Women plunder 400 runs on day one of test vs Eng W

  


After 2 years India women team took part in a test match .  At Mumbai DY Patil stadium  India women met England women in a 4 day test and batted first after winning the toss . At the end of day one the hosts piled on a formidable 410/7  in 94 overs scoring at a very good rate with 4 batters getting 60s .


India started brightly with Smriti Mandhana & Shafali Verma as boundaries flowed but Lauren Bell bowled Mandhana (17) off inside edge . Shafali (19) was baffled by a beauty from Kate Cross which brought two debutants  Shubha Satheesh and Jemima Rodrigues together . Both stitched a big partnership of 115 runs and played sparkling shots . Satheesh surprise selection proved to be a masterstroke as she expressed herself with an array of pleasing shots including a gorgeous straight drive and crisp cuts off backfoot . Jemima showcased her typical classy shots through the offside as runs flowed rapidly till midway in the second session both departed.  Jemima (68) was bowled by Bell and Satheesh (69) was caught at square leg off Ecclestone. 


This brought Harmanpreet and Yastika  together as both got into another productive stand . Harman looked in vintage touch as she drove and flicked with effortless ease while Yastika , who survived an early chance , played some imperious strokes pulling and driving with disdain as the runs flowed rapidly . 



After the partnership reached 116 , Harmanpreet (49) got into a freak run out dismissal as her bat got stuck on ground millimeters outside the crease . 


Yastika (66) after a fine knock finally departed , caught off a big shot off Dean . However Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana got into another long 92 run stand before Rana (30) after a good knock was bowled by Nat Sciver Brunt . However Deepti Sharma played some pleasing shots to stay 60 notout , scoring her 3rd test 50 in her 3rd test .  India ended the day on 410/7 .


England bowling just could not stop the flow of runs and the fielding was poor at times with some easy catches dropped . Bell took the highest 2 wickets .
