India W hold the aces on day 1 vs Aus W after Vastrakar's dazzling bowling

Team India women  started against Australia exactly where they left off against England.  India's bowlers and batters showed power on the first day of the Test on the country's soil.  First the bowlers did their job.  After that, the batters took the team to a good position .  All in all, India took the honours  on the first day.

Australia won the toss and decided to bat first.  But the beginning was not good for them.  Opener Phoebe Litchfield was run out in the first over due to a misunderstanding without facing a ball .  Pooja Vastrakar bowled the team's most experienced batsman Ellis Perry (4)  in the next over with a sharp incutter that rattled Perry's stumps to the delight of India's fielders.

Beth Mooney and Tahila McGrath had a good partnership .  Mooney was playing slowly but McGrath  was playing dazzling shots mostly on  the off side .  McGrath scored a fluent  half century.  But Sneh Rana struck  a big blow by dismissing her after 50 runs.  Mooney was dismissed by Pooja for 40 runs at the stroke of lunch by a shirt lifting ball with the batter fended straight  to first slip .  Among the rest, skipper Alyssa Healy scored a sparkling 38 runs and later Kim Garth scored a very valuable 28 runs and added crucial runs with Jonnasen (15)

Australia were all out for 219 runs after the tea break.  Pooja and Sneha caught the attention of the Indian bowlers.  Pooja who bowled with hostility took 4 wickets and Sneh 3 wickets.  Deepti Sharma, the best bowler of the previous Test, took 2 wickets.

India's two openers Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma came out to bat in response.  They batted very confidently and played positive shots .  Australia's bowlers were unable to trouble them.  They were playing with a plan to survive till the end of the day.  But in the end Shefali got out after a fluent  40 runs lbw to Jonnasen.  At the end of the first day, India were 98 runs for 1 wicket.  They are 121 runs behind Australia.  Mandhana remains unbeaten on 43 runs.  Sneha is batting with 4  .  Under the circumstances, India will bat on the second day with the aim of taking a big lead in the first innings.
