Aus v Pak 1st test : Pakistan openers fight after Australia amassed 487

Pakistan batters fought hard on day 2 of the 1st test at Perth after Australia finished their first innings at 487 . After Marsh ensured that Australia will close 450 , the Pakistani batters put up a gritty display to finish at 132/2 on day 2 . However Australia are still in the ascendancy .

The day began with Marsh and Carey striking the ball nicely to push  Australia along with a 90 run stand but Carey was bowled by a beauty from Jamal for 34 after looking good .

Marsh was playing imperious shots , driving , pulling , flicking effortlessly and looked good to get a 100 but was dismissed clean bowled by Jamal immediately after lunch for 90 .

Pakistan soon wrapped up the tail with Amir Jamal taking 6 wickets in an innings  on debut .

The Pakistani openers then played gritty cricket . They were beaten several times by the tall pace bowlers of Australia but survived long enough to get an opening stand of 74 . Abdullah Shafique was comparatively more aggressive and played some sublime shots while showing his class till he was dismissed by Lyon for 42.  While Imam defended solidly , Shaan Masood the skipper played a fine cameo till Starc had him caught behind for 30 little before close . At close Imam with 38 remained not out along with nightwatchman Khurram Shahzad as Pakistan are still 355 behind
