From the beginning of the match, there was a fierce fight between the two teams. It was not clear which team would win the gold. But the biggest play came with 1 minute and 3 seconds left in the game. Both teams had 28 points. With 1 minute and 30 seconds remaining, 'do or die' was announced. Pawan went to Red at that time. He went out of touch before touching an Iranian player. Chasing after Pawan, one of the Iranians went off the line. He was touched by three other teammates. As a result India should get three or four points according to the old rules. According to the new rules, both teams are supposed to get one point. Because of which one of Iran's defenders walked out of the court by himself. The referee initially gave three points to India. One point to Iran. After watching the replay, he changed his decision and decided to give one point to both teams. It was then that the Indian players objected.
The Iraqi referee, Malaysian and Sri Lankan umpires could not decide. The root cause of the problem was that the rules are not communicated properly before the game starts. Naturally, the Indian team insisted on the old rules and Iran demanded points under the new rules. The referees and umpires could not make a decision even after watching replays. Neither India nor Iran agreed to accept their arguments. In the end, the Secretary General of the Asian Kabaddi Association had to intervene. He decided to give both teams a point after watching the replay. But the coach of the Indian team protested. The Secretary General of the Asian Kabaddi Association tried to convince but the Indian camp did not agree. Indian players sat on the court in protest.
As India did not want to play, the referee and umpires started discussing again. Replays are reviewed. The match officials were practically forced to retreat in front of the stubborn stand of the Indian camp. Again 4 points are given to India and 1 point to Iran. The Iranian camp strongly protested after this decision was announced. Their players also sat on the court not wanting to play. Both parties stand firm in their position. As the umpires did not clarify the rules before the start of the game, they were in trouble. They could not impose a decision on any party for their own mistakes.
In this situation, it was decided to suspend the game. Discussions begin to determine which rules will be followed. The leaders of the Asian Kabaddi Association, the match officials and the organizers spoke and decided that since the rules were not specifically communicated before the start of the game, the old rules were eventually followed. Consequently, accepting Iran's objection, India was awarded 3 points and they were awarded 1 point. Although the Iranian players were not happy with this decision, they did not walk the path of strong protest. India secured the victory by picking up 2 more points in the last few seconds. Iran got no more points.
