CWC2023 : India cruise past Bangladesh while Kohli gets his 3rd World cup ton

 

Team India has achieved victory by defeating Bangladesh in a crucial World cup game .  In the match played on Thursday in Pune, Maharashtra, Team India defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets.  Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first.  Thanks to the half-centuries of Litton Das and Tanjid Hasan, Bangladesh scored 256 runs in 50 overs.  Team India achieved the target of 257 runs by losing 3 wickets in 41.3 overs.  Virat Kohli was the hero of Team India's victory.  He played an unbeaten innings of 103 runs after Rohit Sharma gave India another rollicking start . 

 With this victory, Team India has 8 points in 4 matches.  She remains at second position in the points table.  New Zealand is at number one.  It also has 8 points, but due to better net run rate it is above Team India.

 Team India made a good start while chasing 257 runs.  Openers Shubhman Gill and Rohit Sharma made a fast start.  Both added 88 runs for the first wicket.  Rohit scored a sparkling  48 runs with imperious drives and pull shots .  Gill was out after scoring a relatively steady  53 runs.  Shreyas Iyer was out as the third wicket.  He was able to score 19 runs.  On the other hand, Kohli kept accumulating the runs in comfortable manner .   This is Kohli's third century in the World Cup.  At the same time, this is the 48th century of his ODI career.  KL Rahul (34*) played some good shots towards the end but with the victory in sight , assisted Kohli in completing his well deserved ton by giving him more strike & refusing singles . 

 

 Earlier , Bangladesh made a good start in the match.  But the Indian bowlers did not allow their rival team to take advantage of the good start and restricted them to 256 runs for eight wickets.  Bangladesh's score at one time was 93 runs without any loss, but after that the Indian bowlers did not allow them to score a big score despite the injury to Hardik Pandya.

 Hardik took charge of the ball in the ninth over but twisted his ankle while trying to stop Liton Das's straight drive.  He first took treatment on the field itself but in the end he had to leave the field.  The Indian Cricket Board later said that Hardik has been taken for scans.  Virat Kohli completed Hardik's over.

Till that time India was waiting for its first success.  Kuldeep Yadav gave India the first success while Ravindra Jadeja gave the second success.  After this, Bangladesh batsmen could not play freely.  Jadeja took two wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs and also took a brilliant diving catch of Mushfiqur Rahim.

 Tanzid scored a fine  51 runs from 43 balls , which included five fours and three sixes. He looks a promising young player .  This is his first half-century in ODI.  Liton Das scored a fine 66 runs in 82 balls with the help of seven fours while Rahim made a useful contribution of 38 runs.  In the last phase of the innings, Mahmudullah played an aggressive innings of 46 runs in 36 balls which included three fours and as many sixes.  Tanjid and Litton Das added 93 runs, which is the highest partnership for the first wicket for Bangladesh in the World Cup.  After this partnership broke, Bangladesh, however, lost wickets at regular intervals due to which its dream of reaching close to 300 runs could not be fulfilled.
