Diego Armando Maradona is regarded was one of the greatest footballers ever to have played the game . Born in 1960  30th October,  the stocky built skilful genius  took Argentina to World cup title in 1986 through  his sheer mastery of the art of football .

Maradona's career was marked not only by his achievements but also by his incredible dribbling skills, vision, and creativity on the field. He remains one of the most iconic figures in the history of football.

Diego Maradona had a remarkable career both in international and club football. Here are detailed achievements for both:

**International Career:**

1. **1986 FIFA World Cup:** Maradona led Argentina to victory in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. He scored five goals during the tournament, including the famous "Hand of God" goal and the "Goal of the Century" in a match against England. He won the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player.

2. **1990 FIFA World Cup:** Maradona captained Argentina to the final of the 1990 World Cup in Italy. Although they didn't win, Maradona's performance was exceptional, and he received the Golden Ball again.

3. **Copa America:** He represented Argentina in Copa America tournaments and was a key player in their victory in the 1993 edition.

**Club Career:**

1. **Boca Juniors:** Maradona began his professional career with Boca Juniors in Argentina. He won the Primera Division title with them in 1981.

2. **Barcelona:** He joined Barcelona in 1982 and helped the club win the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.

3. **Napoli:** Maradona's most significant club achievement came with Napoli in Italy. He led them to two Serie A titles (1986-87 and 1989-90), a Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Cup.

However his glittering  career was also marred by controversies and drug related scandals during 1990s .  Argentina looked one of the favourites going into the 1994 World cup in USA and Maradona's skills in the earlier rounds made the team look lethal . However Maradona was tested positive for banned substances after one of the games and was suspended from the competition resulting in derailing Argentina's campaign and their subsequent exit .

Also post retirement , Maradona's drug addiction and  lack of focus on his health proved costly and finally led to his early passing away on 25th November 2020 at 60 years of age .
