Asian Games 2022 : India creates new record with all time highest number of medal wins
India set a record in the Asian Games. With the gold win in archery on Wednesday morning, India's medal tally stood at 71. This is India's most medals in the Asian Games. Earlier, India had won 70 medals in Jakarta in 2018. That number has been exceeded. India is aiming for 100 medals in this year's Asian Games. 29 more medals to reach that target.
Not only the total number of medals, but also in terms of winning gold, India has set a precedent. The country won 16 golds in Jakarta. This time 16 golds have already been won. India has so far won 16 gold, 26 silver and 29 bronze medals in this year's competition. Out of 16 golds, 7 came from shooting alone. 4 came from athletics. India got 10 silver in this event. 9 silver came from shooting. 2 silver came from rowing. Out of 71 medals in this year's Asian Games, 23 medals came in athletics. Shooting is not far behind. Indian shooters bagged 22 medals. That is, out of 71 medals, India won 45 medals in these two events alone. India's medal tally in athletics is likely to increase. There are still several wrestling events left.
