CWC2023: Santner sizzles as New Zealand outplay Netherlands

The kind of game that New Zealand had shown against England in the first match of the ODI World Cup, continued in the second match as well.  The 2019 World Cup runner-up team defeated Netherlands by 99 runs in the match played at Rajavi Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday.  This is New Zealand's second victory in this World Cup.  New Zealand's batsmen came out of a very slow start and scored 322 runs after losing seven wickets after playing full 50 overs.  In front of this huge score, the Netherlands team collapsed for only 223 runs in 46.3 overs.  This was also the second match of Netherlands.  It had lost to Pakistan in the first match on the same ground.

Netherlands captain Scott Edwards won the toss in this match and decided to bowl first.  Not a single century was scored for New Zealand in this match, but three batsmen were successful in scoring half-centuries, on the basis of which the New Zealand team scored a big score.

New Zealand had a very slow start.  Netherlands bowled the first three overs of the match and did not allow New Zealand to score a single run.  But after this the New Zealand batsmen made a comeback and made a huge score.  The opening pair of Devon Conway and Will Young added 67 runs for the first wicket.  Conway, who scored a century against England, could score only 32 runs in this match.  Young again completed his half-century.  He also returned to the pavilion on the total score of 144.  He scored 70 runs in 80 balls with the help of seven fours and two sublime sixes .  Like Conway, Rachin Ravindra, who scored a century against England, scored a half-century in this match but after that he could not last long.  Ravindra played an innings of 51 runs in 51 balls.

After Young and Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell (48) played some hardhitting shots and then  Tom Latham, who was captaining New Zealand, also batted well in this match.  Latham scored 53 runs in 46 balls with the help of six fours and one six.  After this, however, the team lost two wickets quickly.  Glenn Phillips and Mark Chapman were out early.  Phillips scored four runs and Mark scored five runs.  In the end Mitchell Santner scored 36 runs in 17 balls, which included three fours and two sixes.

After bat, Santner also did wonders with the ball and played an important role in his team's victory.  Matt Henry started the process of getting the first wicket for New Zealand.  He showed Vikramjit Singh the way to the pavilion.  Vikramjeet scored 12 runs.  Max O'Dawood made his first victim on a total score of 43.  From here again the process of falling wickets started and continued continuously.  Colin Ackerman was the best scorer of the team.  He scored 69 runs in 73 balls with the help of five fours.  In the end the captain definitely showed some hands and played an innings of 30 runs in 27 balls.  Santner took five wickets for New Zealand.  Henry got three wickets
