Asian Games 2022 : India mens reach cricket semis , India women reach hockey semis

 



India reached semi final in Asian Games cricket but not before being challenged by a valiant Nepal.



A breathtaking 100 by Yashasvi Jaiswal and great finishing by Rinku Singh helped India to beat Nepal by 23 runs in a well contested quarterfinal. With this win India reached the semis of Asian Games 2022 .


Batting first India was given a great start by Jaiswal who was playing breathtaking shots on a pitch tough for scoring while other top order Indian batters struggled.  Gaekwad (25) Jitesh Sharma (5) , Tilak Verma (2) all struggled to come to terms with the pitch while Jaiswal was playing dazzling shots and hit 8 fours and 7 sixes . When India looked poised to end at 180 , it was Rinku Singh who used great hitting skills to smash 37 not out in just 15 balls with 4 sixes while Shivam Dube (25*) gave him support as India went past  200 to reach 202/4 , an expected winning score against inexperienced Nepal .




However the Indian bowlers specially the fast bowlers turned up with a shoddy performance as Nepal batters made a brave chase of the target with commendable positive attitude.  There were no big knocks but some valiant hitting as Nepal batters hit 14 sixes in their innings . Dipendra Singh Airee (32 off 15) , Kushal Malla (29) and  Sandeep Jora (29) did worry India as they went after their bowlers but at the end too many loss of wickets finally forced Nepal to end at 179 . India at the end won by 23 runs and were well challenged.

Indian women Hockey team smashes Hongkong  13-0 to move into the semi finals while Pakistan mens team crashed out of the Games losing 3-2 to Japan 



At least a silver assured in Archery as Abhishek Verma defeat Jaehoon Joo of Korea 147-145 and moves to the FINAL.



Dipika Pallikal and Harinderpal Singh moves to the Quarter FINALS of Mixed Doubles in squash 


PV Sindhu moves into round 16 in womens badminton
