CWC2023 : Pakistan beat Netherlands , Saud Shakeel impresses

Pakistan started the World Cup campaign with a win . They defeated the Netherlands by 81 runs in Hyderabad on Friday.  Batting first, Pakistan scored 286 runs.  In reply, Netherlands' innings ended on 205 runs.  Even in this victory , Babar may be worried about the team's batting.

Netherlands captain Scott Edwards won the toss and decided to field first.  His decision was sensible.  However, they had to lose for being behind in overall cricketing skills and experience.  Pakistan's innings did not start well against the Netherlands.  Pakistan lost 3 wickets for 38 runs.  Apart from captain Babar (5), two openers Fakhar Zaman (12) and Imam ul Haque (13) did not get runs. Fakhar was caught and bowled , Babar caught at midwicket trying to pull spin and Imam was caught on the pull .  Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel led the Pak innings.  They scored 120 runs in the fourth wicket partnership.  Both scored 68 runs.  Rizwan had 8 fours in his 75-ball innings.  Shakil was aggressive in comparison and he played really well .  His 52-ball innings has 9 fours and 1 six.  Mohammad Nawaz (39) and Shadab Khan (32) innings put Pakistan in a fighting position.  Shaheen Afridi's unbeaten 13 and Harris Rauf's 16 at the end took Pakistan to a decent place.  Bas de Leede was the most successful bowler in the Netherlands team .  He took 4 wickets with 62 runs.  2 wickets for 39 runs were taken by Colin Ackerman.

The Dutch did not make a bad start when they went into bat with a target of 287 runs to win.  They scored 120 runs for 3 wickets in 23.4 overs.  At one point it seemed that Pakistan might lose.  Although the Netherlands could not cause the first upset of the World Cup.  Netherlands' middle and lower order batsmen could not stand up to the pace bowling attack of Rauf and Shaheen .  Opener Bikramjit Singh scored an impressive 52 runs off 67 balls.  He hit 4 fours and 1 six.  The all-rounder Bas De Leede, who batted at   number four, led the way with 67 runs off 68 balls.  6 fours and 2 sixes came from his bat as he batted impressively against all the bowlers .  In addition, Logan Van Beek batted well .   He went down to number nine and remained unbeaten with 28 runs off 28 balls.  Hit 3 fours and 1 six.  Finally, the innings of the Netherlands ended in 41 overs as the others failed to withstand the more experienced Pakistan bowling

Rauf is the most successful bowler in Pakistan.  He took 3 wickets with 43 runs.  Hasan Ali took 2 wickets for 33 runs.  Shaheen got 1 wicket for 37 runs.  Shadab, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz also took 1 wicket each.
