Food : Hojaldras - How to prepare this Latin America bread item
Hojaldras are a type of fried bread popular in Latin America. Here's a basic recipe to prepare them:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1/2 cup of water
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.
2. In a saucepan, heat the water and butter until the butter melts.
3. Pour the hot liquid over the dry ingredients and mix to form a dough.
4. Knead the dough for a few minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
5. Divide the dough into small portions and roll them into thin circles or rectangles, about 1/8 inch thick.
6. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan or skillet.
7. Carefully add the rolled-out dough pieces to the hot oil. Fry them until they puff up and turn golden brown, usually just a few seconds on each side.
8. Remove the hojaldras from the oil and place them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
9. Serve the hojaldras warm. They can be enjoyed with sugar, honey, or your favorite toppings.
Remember to be cautious while frying, and always handle hot oil with care. Enjoy your homemade hojaldras!
