Nation shocked by mysterious death of 1st year student in Jadavpur University - how ragging is done in JU Hostel ?

 

The recent tragic death of a first year undergraduate  student of Jadavpur University , Swapnadeep Kundu has created shockwaves in Kolkata in West Bengal and across the country . The dead student, who hails from Nadia district in West Bengal   is apparently the victim of gruesome ragging of senior level students in who reside in Universty hostel and carries out these shameful rituals on the freshers and first year students newly admitted to the university and the hostel 

A few days have passed since the death of Swapnadeep Kundu, a first year student of Jadavpur University!  Was the death due to mere accident or ragging ?   The police are looking for that answer.  Although the police have already arrested a former student  in this incident.  The former student  was arrested by the police after repeated questioning.  The name of the arrested person is known as Saurabh Chowdhury.

 A case of murder has already been registered based on the family's complaint.  302 with multiple cases filed.  According to sources, Sourav had a lot of influence in that hostel of Jadavpur University.  After his arrest, the police interrogated him repeatedly on Friday.

 At the same time, the police interrogated several other students.  Even on last Saturday, several students were interrogated by the police.

 However, in the preliminary investigation, the investigators have received several information.  It is known that Swapnadeep had to be introduced twice in the hostel.  But why?  The police interrogated Saurabh caught in that regard.  It is claimed that the introductory Sapnadweep was taken twice under his leadership.

 And at that time several others were present there.  It is said that their role is also being investigated by the police.  On the other hand, Governor CV Anand Bose is also active in this incident.  He already knew the whole incident.  Governor Bose rushed to the hostel after the incident and talked to Swapnadeep Kundu's family.   CV Anand Bose also held a meeting with Jadavpur professors at Raj Bhavan on Friday.

 At the same time, he spoke to everyone in charge of Jadavpur's anti-ragging cell.  Governor CV Anand Bose wants to know in detail why such a trend.  Besides, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself is keeping an eye on this issue.

 Mamata Banerjee has already spoken to Swapnadeep's family.  She also told the family that the whole matter will be investigated deeply.  But the mother is completely crestfallen  due to  the death of her son.  She  is holding Swapnadeep's picture and crying all the time.

How " intro" is carried out by the student group at Jadavpur University hostel  ? 

Ever since Swapnadeep Kundu's death, many have complained that ragging in Jadavpur University hostels is nothing new.  Rather, they complain that it has been going on for a long time.

  Since the death of first year student of Jadavpur University Swapnadeep Kundu on Wednesday 9th August night, that one word " intro"  has become a nightmare.  Some of the students claim that the dreaded word 'Intro' is not just an abbreviation of the English word 'Introduction' (introduction) to the new students or residents of Jadavpur University.  That one word is horrible to them.  A section of the students claimed that the one word has no idea how many talents have not been developed, how many students' dreams have been shattered.

A student of Jadavpur University opened his mouth about the matter.  who said he was a graduate student.  The student said that after getting admission in Jadavpur, initially he used to travel from home every day (the distance from home is about 100 km).  Finally got a chance to stay in a hostel last year.  But one night was enough to understand that it is not really an 'opportunity', but a disaster , said the student.

 In grief, pain and fear, the graduate level student said that after coming to the hostel, after the dinner , the call for 'intro' was made by the senior students of the hostel .  

The student said that according to the rules of 'Intro', every day the clock strikes 11 or 12 and knocks on every door of the hostel.  At that time the students had to wear nominal clothes (note, Swapnadeep's naked body was recovered).  After opening the door, the seniors have to memorize a few things .  There is a specific 'format' of what to say like   Name of self, name of father, name of mother, date of birth, date of intercourse of parents, educational qualification.  There is no escape.  The new students  have to describe their  physical structure.  And during the 'intro', physical torture is done when any English word comes out.  

 And the torture of the so-called 'good' boys in the name of 'intro' does not end there, said the student.  According to him, he learned from a senior  that until every student in the hostel can tell the shape and length of his penis in an instant, the 'intro' will continue.  Daily 'intro' duration is two and a half to three hours.  'Intro' starts at 2:30 PM.  The student said that the seniors had  to be given detailed information about all the girls in the class (known as 'Mamoni').  One day a week the seniors have to fill up the water and cannot keep long hair .  (Swapndeep's father also alleged that his son was forced to cut his hair).

 But whether Swapnadeep also had to suffer such horrors, whether ragging took his life, is yet to be proved.  However, Saurabh Chowdhury, who was arrested on Friday night by Jadavpur Police Station, was named in the FIR filed by Swapnadeep's father.  Swapnadeep's family claimed that his son had to be tortured under his leadership who came to the hostel on Sunday itself.  And on Wednesday itself , the dead  body of Swapnadeep  came out of that hostel.
