Chandrayaan-3 faces the moment of truth in a few hours , history in the making

The moment of truth has come . India is expected to write history in he evening of 23rd August 2023 .

Wait a few more hours.  Chandrayaan 3 is about to touch the lunar soil.  As per Indian time, the whole country is waiting for when the clock will reach 6:40 on Wednesday (today) evening.  The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said that Chandrayaan 3's lander Vikram will make a soft landing on the South Pole of the Moon.  The rover Pragyan will also reach the lunar soil with it.

The scene of landing on the chest of the moon will be broadcast live from 5:20 pm on Wednesday on ISRO's website, Facebook page, YouTube.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to South Africa to attend the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) summit.  From there he will be present through virtual medium to witness this history.  All schools are said to be open on Wednesday evening.  Curious students can watch Chandrayaan 3 landing online from the school.  Even space experts are looking forward to witness this historic moment.  It is heard that they have also planned gatherings in different parts of the country.  ISRO scientists consider the '15 minutes' before touching the ground of the moon to be very 'important'

In 2009, the presence of water on the Moon's surface was detected by a NASA instrument on board ISRO's Chandrayaan 1 probe.  According to ISRO, during the soft landing on the south pole of the moon, the place will be selected very carefully.  ISRO scientists hope that 'lunar water ice' or ice can also be found where traces of water have been found on the lunar surface.  ISRO said that if water is found, it will be a valuable resource for space scientists.

No country has ever sent a spacecraft to the Moon's South Pole before.  As a result, if ISRO succeeds in Wednesday's test, India will create history.  If successful in this journey, India will set a precedent as the fourth country in the world after America, Russia and China.  India sent Chandrayaan 2 in 2019 but did not succeed.  The spacecraft crashed on the lunar surface.  This time ISRO is careful to correct many mistakes from the mistakes of the past.  Last Sunday, Russia failed to land a spacecraft on the south pole of the moon.  Luna-25 crashed on the lunar surface.  However, from the scientists of ISRO, the entire country is optimistic about the success of India's lunar mission.  Prayers are going on across the country for the success of this campaign.
