Continous heavy rains & floods causing carnage in Himachal Pradesh

 



Heavy rains and landslides have caused devastation in Himachal Pradesh.  Heavy rains are continuing in Shimla, Mandi and other areas and landslides have affected hundreds of roads and dozens of people have died so far.  Rail lines have also been affected at many places.  The ground has washed away at many places from under the Kalka-Shimla rail line, due to which the entire track has been disrupted.  On Monday, the incident of cloudburst was also reported in many areas including Solan.  Dozens of people lost their lives when the Shiva temple collapsed in Shimla on Monday and many people were buried under the debris.





 A total of 50 people have died so far in different accidents in Shimla.  Due to the rains for the last three days, there has been a huge devastation in Mandi district.  Many villages in Balh Valley of Mandi have been submerged and many houses have been badly damaged.  The death toll is increasing rapidly and dozens of people have been affected.  NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed for disaster management.


 Social worker Prabhas Rana died during a rescue operation in Dharampur area.  He was successful in saving the lives of seven people from two families but they were trapped in this house during the landslide incident. A young man died due to cloudburst in Malwana village too.  Apart from this, one person each has lost his life in Sakore village and Nihri village.


 Hundreds of roads have been washed away all over Himachal due to which people are facing many problems.  Due to the closure of roads, people are facing problems of food items, milk and drinking water.  Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has instructed the officials that every possible effort should be made for the people.
