How to prepare Indian dish Fish Orly
Fish Orly is a popular fried fish dish from Indian cuisine. Here's a simple recipe for making Fish Orly:
Ingredients:
- 500g boneless fish fillets (like cod, haddock, or tilapia)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Water (enough to make a thick batter)
- Oil for deep frying
- Chopped cilantro for garnish
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions:
1. Clean and pat dry the fish fillets. Cut them into bite-sized pieces if necessary.
2. In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, and salt to make a smooth batter. Add water gradually to achieve a thick consistency.
3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat.
4. Once the oil is hot, dip each fish piece into the batter, coating it well, and then carefully drop it into the hot oil. Fry a few pieces at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
5. Fry the fish until they turn golden brown and crispy, usually about 3-4 minutes on each side. Make sure to adjust the heat if needed to prevent the fish from burning.
6. Once the fish pieces are fried, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
7. Sprinkle chopped cilantro over the fried fish for added flavor.
8. Serve the Fish Orly hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the fish.
Fish Orly is often enjoyed as an appetizer or snack. You can also serve it with a dipping sauce or chutney of your choice. Enjoy your delicious fried fish!
