West Indies effect a clean sweep over South Africa in 3 match T20I series

West Indies secured a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20I series against South Africa, triumphing in the third match by eight wickets. Johnson Charles was the standout performer with the bat, supported by dazzling contributions from Brandon King and Kyle Mayers. Chasing a target of 164, West Indies reached their goal in just 13.5 overs at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.

Charles set the chase in motion by hitting three consecutive fours off Anrich Nortje in the opening over, followed by sixes from both King and Charles off Bjorn Fortuin in the second over. Gerald Coetzee's first over was particularly costly, conceding 23 runs, including three sixes and a four from Charles. By the end of the powerplay, West Indies had galloped to 83/0, with Charles reaching a 20-ball fifty with a four off Nortje, then adding two more boundaries.

Although Nqaba Peter managed to dismiss Charles , King then took on the aggressor's role, Mayers joined the assault with a six off Reeza Hendricks, bringing West Indies to 128/1 after 10 overs. King was eventually dismissed by Coetzee, falling just six runs short of a half-century, but Mayers continued the six-hitting spree, finishing the chase in the 14th over. West Indies hit 13 sixes in their innings, nearly double the number hit by South Africa.

Earlier, South Africa chose to bat but lost Reeza Hendricks early. Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton began to build a partnership, but from 43/1 in the sixth over, South Africa slumped to 50/4 by the ninth over due to quick strikes from McCoy and Motie. At the halfway mark, South Africa had only managed 63 runs, needing a strong second half to their innings.

Captain Rassie van de Dussen and Wiaan Mulder added 77 runs for the fifth wicket off 49 balls to give South Africa some momentum. However, McCoy broke the partnership by dismissing Mulder for 36 and later van der Dussen after he crossed fifty. Despite adding 100 runs in their last 10 overs, South Africa's slow start meant their total of 163 was insufficient.
