IPL24: KKR blow away LSG to virtually secure playoffs spot , Narine shines

 



KKR continued their golden run in this IPL season. After beating Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede after 12 years , KKR completely outplayed LSG at Lucknow and won by 98 runs in some style in another impressive away win . 



Losing the toss and batting first  KKR  were off to a blistering start with both Salt and Narine in breathtaking strokemaking form . The ball was running to all parts of the ground . Both Salt and Narine in particular were hitting 6s for fun with sublime timing .  Salt finally departed for 32 in just 14 balls being caught behind of Naveen . Young Raghuvanshi looked in great touch as he was rotating the strike to give a rampaging Narine more strike . Finally after a spectacular 81 runs off 39 balls with 7 sixes  Narine was dismissed off a skier by Bishnoi . Russell (12) had a brief stay while Raghuvanshi finally fell for 32 off 26 balls . The crowd favourite Rinku Singh (16) again had a brief stay after looking good but it was Shreyas Iyer (23) who played a breezy knock while Ramandeep Singh blasted a rapid 25 off just 6 balls to take KKR to an imposing target of 235 in 20 overs . Naveen with 3 wickets was the most successful bowler for LSG


In reply LSG did look good for a while despite early loss of Kulkarni (9) to Starc . Rahul & Stoinis in particular looked to attack the bowling but Rahul (25) could not step up in his strike rate and was caught in the deep off Harshit Rana . Soon Deepak Hooda (5) was lbw to Varun Chakravarty and finally Stoinis (31) fell to Russell which was a huge blow to LSG . The LSG batting was in total disarray by now and once  the dangerous Pooran (10) was caught behind of Russell , the rest of the batting simply caved in . LSG were skittled out for 137 and therefore lost by a whopping 98 runs which will dent their NRR . Now LSG needs to win at least 2 of their last 3 games to qualify for the playoffs .


For KKR  Varun Chakravarty & Rana took 3 wickets each and Russell took 2 wickets . Sunil Narine was the player of the match for his all round show ( 81 runs, 1/22 in 4 overs )

Red alert of more heavy rains in Maharashtra, closures announced in schools, colleges in some districts

  It is raining continuously in many districts of Maharashtra.  The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for 4 districts, expressing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the state today i.e. on Thursday.  Keeping this in mind, a holiday has been declared today (July 27) for schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur districts.  Orange alert of rain has been issued in Raigarh district.  In such a situation, the district administration will take a decision on the basis of the situation with Raigad district.  On the other hand, July 27 has been declared a holiday for all government, private schools, all colleges, all ashram schools, business and training centers within Panvel Municipal Corporation limits.  The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai as well as Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur.  In such a situation, keeping in view the possibility of heavy rains, school students of class I to 12 of all medium

Heavy rains totally disrupts train services in Mumbai area, CM orders early closure of Govt Offices

  Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, the speed of Mumbai local has slowed down.  Many trains have been cancelled and diverted. Due to heavy rains in Thane district adjacent to Mumbai, the track changing point on the Kalyan-Kasara route was damaged, due to which train services on this route were stopped on Wednesday afternoon.  A senior railway official gave this information.  The Central Railway also informed that it has diverted some mail and express trains on Diva-Panvel-Karjat route and Daund-Manmad route, besides terminating some trains between Mumbai and Pune.   Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday ordered that the government offices in Mumbai and the neighboring region should be closed early.
