IPL24: Suryakumar Yadav blistering 102 stuns SRH as MI get 4th win of the season

Suryakumar Yadav returned to his breathtaking form as Sunrises Hyderabad bite the dust at Wankhede.

Mumbai still survive in the IPL by winning the match by seven wickets on Monday.  Sunrisers Hyderabad's points are 12 as they lose the match.  They are number four in the points table.  Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow - these three teams have 12 points.  Defeat at Wankhede arguably delayed Pat Cummins' side's play-off run.

In this year's IPL, Mumbai got into the momentum very late.  Captain Hardik Pandya also returned to form very late.  The controversial Mumbai captain took three wickets with the ball on Monday.  But the match was won by Suryakumar Yadav.  Surya played a great innings of 102 runs not out off 51 balls.  He hit 12 fours and 6 sixes.  Surya rescued Mumbai from a difficult start at 31/3 .

T20 World Cup is closing in.  Surya was out of the game for a long time due to injury.  Couldn't even get into the IPL from the beginning.  On this day, he pulled Mumbai out of a very difficult situation.  Scored a breathtaking century.  Mumbai won with 16 balls to spare.  Suryakumar batted ahead in a spirited mood.

At the end of the match, he was heard to say, "I fielded 20 overs for the first time since December 14.  I batted like 18 overs.  I'm absolutely fine.”

The smile of a thousand watts is playing on the face of the sun.  Hardik Pandya is smiling for him.  Wankhede was turbulent.  This scene was missing in IPL previously.  Suryakumar Yadav returned to bat for a magical night.  However, Mumbai Indians still have a long way to go.  Time will tell if Mumbai can reach the playoffs at all.  Undoubtedly, the road is difficult.  But Suryakumar Yadav spread pure oxygen in the dressing rooms of Mumbai for this day.  Mumbai won after four matches.

The task was not very easy for Mumbai.  Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and sent Hyderabad to bat first.  It is Hyderabad who have climbed the Everest of runs and set a record in the IPL.  They scored 173 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs that day.  Although Michael Clarke said earlier after seeing the pitch, there are close to 200 runs on this pitch.  The former Aussie captain did not say anything wrong.  All dangerous batsmen in Hyderabad team.  It would have been two hundred if not for Harakiri in the middle.

Mumbai bowlers took advantage of the Wankhede pitch.  From the start, the ball was not hitting the bat properly.  Hyderabad batsmen could not get the timing right.  Hardik Pandya took 3 wickets for 31 runs.  He also hinted to return to form.  Piyush Chawla also took three wickets.  Hyderabad's wickets fell at regular intervals.  Head scored the highest run in their innings (48) but he rode his luck being bowled off a no ball, inside edges missing stumps and dropped at third man .  The rest could not scored enough with key players Abhishek (11) and Klaasen (4) failing again .  Cummins (35) made a desperate attempt to add runs towards the end playing some explosive shots  and suceeded in taking the score to a degree of respectability at 173 .

Mumbai put themselves in danger once they chased Hyderabad's run.  Ishan Kishan (9), Rohit Sharma (4) and Naman Dhir (0) quickly returned to the dugout as the SRH bowlers swung the ball under lights and were bowling with 2 slips .   Mumbai batters looked ruffled.  Mumbai slumped to 31 for three. Kishan was caught in the slips off Jansen , Dhir was caught in the slips off Bhuvneshwar and Rohit's shot went up high to be caught by Klaasen off Cummins . Just like how Mumbai have lost their way in the previous matches, there were signs of the same today.  But from this situation, Surya took the match to Mumbai dressing room.  He himself said, "we lost three wickets.  I had to survive to the end.”

Surya did that.  He also got Tilak Verma (37*) to support him .  Meanwhile, the dew falls and the ball becomes heavy.  Suryakumar went into beast mode .  Wankhede wicket is familiar to him.   Pat Cummins tried hard but could not stop the onslaught of Surya who drove a lot in front of the wicket and then played his patent wristy shots to soar the ball into the stands as he looked in full control.  After today's innings, fans are hopeful that the sun will shine in the World Cup as well. Player of the match Suryakumar Yadav has returned to his best form as Mumbai keeps their slim playoffs  hopes alive .
