IPL24: RCB win 5 matches in a row with big win over Delhi & moves closer to playoffs

 


Delhi Capitals loses important game without skipper Rishabh Pant.  They lost by 47 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday.  Batting first, Bengaluru scored 187 runs at home.  In response, Delhi's innings ended at 140 runs.  Bengaluru thus won five matches in a row.


 With a target of 188 runs in mind, Delhi lost four wickets in 30 runs.  David Warner (1), Abhishek Porel (2), Jack Fraser-McGurk (21) and Kumar Kushagra (2) did not last long at the crease.  McGurk was unfortunately run out at the non strikers end when the ball touched the bowlers hand and hit the stumps with Fraser out of the crease.  At that time the result of the match was fairly clear.  Shai Hope kept Delhi's hopes alive.  He was accompanying Axar Patel.  But Hope could not score more than 29 runs in 23 balls after looking promising .  Axar was single handedly pulling the team along till he got out.  He scored 57 runs off 39 balls and hit 3 big sixes . After his dismissal,  the match result was very obvious 



 Earlier Delhi captain Axar Patel won the toss and sent Bengaluru into bat.  Rishabh Pant was unable to play in this match.  He was suspended for slow over rate.  Bengaluru lost the wicket of skipper Faf du Plessis early on when they came out to bat.  He got out after scoring only 6 runs.  Virat got out in the power play.  Bengaluru lost 2 wickets for 36 runs.  Out of that 27 quick runs were scored by Virat who hit two glorious sixes and maintained a strike rate of 200 plus. 



 Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar led the team after two early loss .  They made a rousing partnership of 88 runs.  Jax scored  41 runs.  Patidar scored an explosive 52 runs in only 32 balls and his hitting of the spinners was thrilling to watch .  Bengaluru was on the way to big runs based on their innings.  But Rasikh Salam stood in the way.  He dismissed Patidar.  Jacks was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav.


 After that, Bangalore lost one wicket after another.  Their innings ended at 187 runs.  Mukesh Kumar's miserly bowling kept Bengaluru innings in check.  Rasikh and Khalil Ahmed took two wickets each.  One wicket each for Ishant Sharma, Mukesh and Kuldeep. Green finished with 32 runs for RCB


 188 runs is not a big target in Bengaluru ground.  But players Cameron Green's miserly bowling made the difference on Sunday.  He gave only 20 runs in 4 overs.  Also took a wicket.  He was assisted by Locky Ferguson, Yash Dayal who took 2 and 3 wickrts respectively.
