IPL24 : LSG ride on Stoinis brilliance to beat Mumbai Indians in low scoring duel

At the beginning of the season, many experts feared.  Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jaspreet Bumrah, Ishan Kishan, so many big names, can Hardik Pandya  unite them!  Will national team captains like Rohit, or Suryakumar, Bumrah, who themselves have the ability to captain each franchise, give their best for Hardik?  That fear came true.  With four matches left, Mumbai Indians' exit from the IPL was virtually assured.

Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians lost to Lucknow Super Giants in a virtually life-or-death match on Tuesday.  KL Rahul's Lucknow (Lucknow Super Giants) kept the dream of playoffs alive by defeating Mumbai by 4 wickets.  Currently their collection is 12 points in 10 matches.  They are number 3 in the points list with Sunrisers now slipping down to 5th spot .

KL Rahul won the toss in Lucknow and decided to bowl as usual.  Batting first, Mumbai got off to a terrible start.  They lost 4 wickets in just 27 runs.  Rohit (4), Surya (10), Tilak (7), Hardik (0) all failed . Rohit was caught at point off Mohsin , Surya edged down legside off Stoinis , Tilak was run out and  Hardik edged an outswinger . Ishan Kishan struggled a bit at the other end.  His collection was 32 runs.  In the end, Nehal Wadhera 46 and Tim David played sparkling  innings of 35 runs respectively to somehow reach Mumbai to 144 runs.  For Lucknow  Stoinis (1/19) , Bishnoi (1/28) and Mohsin (2/36) bowled well .

Lucknow did not get off to a good start when they came to bat in reply.  Arshin Kulkarni, who came to open in place of D'Kock, got out on the first ball and went back.  However, captain KL Rahul and Stoinis took control of the innings after that.  Rahul was dismissed for 28 runs by Hardik as he tried to hoost him  but Stoinis played a brilliant innings of 62 runs full of sparkling strokes .  In the end Mumbai bowlers bowled well but they could not change the outcome of the match. Hooda (18) and Pooran (14*) though did not get big scores played crucial knocks . In the end Lucknow won by 4 wickets.  As a result, Mumbai's IPL (IPL 2024) campaign is virtually over. Stoinis was the player of the match
