IPL24: RCB win 3 in a row , outplaying timid Gujarat Titans

RCB has almost nothing to gain from the current IPL.  There is nothing to lose for them.  Like the last 16 seasons, the fans have given up on dreaming of getting close to winning the trophy.  It is also practically clear that there is no way for the team to reach the playoffs.  And when all these worries go away, RCB are seeing good results.  Chinnaswamy on Saturday saw Bengaluru win against Gujarat on the back of some brilliant batting by the current and former captain.

Faf won the toss and sent the Titans to bat first.  But at the beginning, Gujarat's top order collapsed, Mohammed Siraj.  The pacer, who filled the opponent's bag of runs in several matches, became a terror on this day.  Gill returned to the pavilion with only 2 runs.  Wriddhiman Saha was out for 1 run and both dismissed by Siraj. Then the prolific Sai Sudharsan (6) went cheaply skying Green to be easily caught by Kohli.  Gujarat got back in the game due to  the middle order batsmen.  Shah Rukh Khan (37), David Miller (30) and Rahul Tewatia (35) brought the team close to 150 with some brave strokeplay and Gujarat were seemly getting back in the game .  But the visitors realized that those runs were not enough to win and it happened.

For RCB , Siraj , Yash Dayal and Vaishak claimed 2 wickets apiece .

As the saying goes, morning shows the day.  The nature of the game tells the future.  In IPL, however, this adage does not always apply.  Because just yesterday in the Mumbai vs KKR match, practically nothing happened.  Hardik Pandya's team failed to reach a modest  target .  Faf and Kohli got off to a great start as they plundered the runs at will . Kohli started with a spectacular straight six and then Faf took over as he launched a fierce onslaught on the Gujarat bowling and stroked a breathtaking  64 in just a mere 23 balls but soon after he exited , the middle order collapsed. Patidar (2), Jacks (1) , Maxwell (4) , Green (2) all fell in a heap while Kohli who started very fast during the powerplay also slowed down and finally got out caught behind for 42 in 27 balls , as RCB slumped from 92/0 to 117/6 and thus they lost .  But in the end, RCB did not have to struggle much to win courtesy of Karthik's unbeaten 21 runs & Swapnil' 15 while Josh Little took 4 wickets.  After defeating the Gills in Gujarat's home field, RCB got 2 vital points from their owned field.
