IPL2025 : Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashes 35 ball 100 to demolish Gujarat Titans as Rajasthan Royals win
The 47th match of IPL 2025 was played between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans at RR’s home ground, Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Rajasthan Royals secured a commanding 8-wicket victory, with 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi emerging as the star of the match by delivering a historic century. This win marked Rajasthan’s third victory of the season, while Gujarat Titans faced their third defeat.
After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals opted to bowl first. Gujarat Titans got off to a strong start, thanks to a solid partnership between Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill. The duo added 93 runs for the first wicket, with Sudharsan scoring 39 before being dismissed. Following his departure, Gill and Jos Buttler accelerated the innings, helping Gujarat post 209 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Shubman Gill played a brilliant knock of 84 runs off 50 balls that included several sparkling shots , while Jos Buttler remained unbeaten on 50 runs from just 26 deliveries with imperious batting against his old club .
For Rajasthan, Maheesh Theekshana was the standout bowler, claiming 2 wickets for 35 runs in his 4 overs. Sandeep Sharma and Jofra Archer also chipped in with a wicket each, although no other bowler managed to make an impact.
Chasing a daunting target of 210 runs, Rajasthan Royals came out all guns blazing. Openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal launched a fierce assault on the Gujarat bowlers, putting up a stunning 166-run stand for the first wicket. Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a sensational innings, smashing 101 runs off just 38 balls, becoming the youngest player in cricket history to score a century and setting the record for the fastest IPL century by an Indian. His innings included 7 fours and 11 sixes. Vaibhav started off with an imperious six over long on off Siraj and then continued his assault on the high quality Gujarat bowling . He smashed the Gujarat bowling to all parts of the ground in breathtaking style , cutting pulling , driving and flicking with aplomb as the crowd was awestruck by the 14 year old's insane ball striking .
At the other end, Yashasvi Jaiswal also delivered an explosive performance, remaining unbeaten on 70 runs off 40 balls, hitting 9 fours and 2 sixes. Riyan Parag then finished the match in style with an unbeaten 32 off just 15 balls. Rajasthan chased down the target in just 15.5 overs, setting a new record for the fastest chase of a 200+ total in IPL history.
On the bowling side for Gujarat, Rashid Khan and Prasidh Krishna picked up one wicket each. However, except for Rashid Khan, all Gujarat bowlers conceded runs at an economy rate of over 11.
