IPL2025: Mumbai Indians Crush Chennai Super Kings by 9 Wickets, Rohit , Surya explodes

 


 

Mumbai Indians delivered a dominant performance on Sunday, defeating Chennai Super Kings by nine wickets at the Wankhede Stadium. Batting first, CSK posted 176 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Mumbai Indians chased down the target in just 15.4 overs with 26 balls to spare, finishing at 177/1, thanks to brilliant half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.


After a long time , Rohit played an innings of substance as he unleashed his brutal strokeplay to captivate the Mumbai Indian fans . After Rickleton departed , Surya too came out and blazed away with his dazzling strokes all around the ground as Mumbai powered on in the chase . 

Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 76 off 45 deliveries, while Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 68 off just 30 balls. Ravindra Jadeja was the only CSK bowler to take a wicket.

Mumbai got off to a solid start in their chase, with Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton putting up a 63-run partnership for the opening wicket. Rickelton scored 24 runs off 19 balls before being dismissed. After that, Rohit and Suryakumar ensured there were no more hiccups as they cruised to the target.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings, opting to bat first, managed 176 runs in their innings. Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja both scored half-centuries to guide their team to a competitive total. CSK suffered an early setback in the fourth over when Rachin was dismissed for just 5 runs off 9 balls, with Ashwini Kumar claiming the wicket. Deepak Chahar then removed Ayush Mhatre, who had scored a quickfire 32 off 15 deliveries. Rashid contributed 19 runs from 20 balls before falling.

The highlight of CSK's innings was a 79-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Shivam Dube (50 off 32 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja. MS Dhoni, however, couldn't contribute much, scoring just 4 runs off 6 balls.

For Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah stood out with figures of 2 for 25 in his four overs. Deepak Chahar, Ashwini Kumar, and Mitchell Santner took a wicket each.
