IPL2025 : Holders KKR destroyed fancied SRH by 80 runs after brilliant all round show

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) delivered a commanding performance to register a one-sided victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 15th match of IPL 2025. Hyderabad had no answers to Kolkata's dominance and crumbled like a deck of cards, suffering an 80-run defeat. This marked KKR’s second win in four matches and their fourth consecutive victory against SRH.

Batting first, Kolkata posted a formidable total of 200 runs in 20 overs. Venkatesh Iyer led the charge with a blistering 60 runs off just 29 balls, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi contributed a solid 50 off 32 deliveries. Captain Ajinkya Rahane played a steady knock of 38 runs in 27 balls, and Rinku Singh provided the finishing touch with an unbeaten 32 off 17 balls.

Chasing the target, Sunrisers Hyderabad collapsed under pressure and managed only 120 runs before being bowled out. KKR's bowlers played a crucial role in sealing the victory. Pacer Vaibhav Arora was outstanding, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs in his 4-over spell, dismissing key batters like Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen. Varun Chakravarthy was equally lethal, claiming 3 wickets for just 22 runs in his 4 overs. Andre Russell picked up 2 wickets, while Sunil Narine and Harshit Rana bagged a wicket each.

Hyderabad’s batting lineup, once considered its strength, has now become a major weakness. Travis Head could score only 4 runs, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan managed just 2 runs each, while Nitish Reddy made 19. Kamindu Mendis contributed 27 runs, with Heinrich Klaasen top-scoring at 33. Despite earlier speculations that SRH could breach the 300-run mark in T20 cricket, they failed to even last the full 20 overs, getting bowled out in just 16.4 overs.

With this magnificent victory, Kolkata made a remarkable jump in the points table, climbing from 10th to 5th place. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad, with just one win in four matches, slipped to the bottom of the standings at 10th place.
